On only his third night fishing a Berkshire syndicate lake, Ross Bancroft had a great result at the weekend with the pit’s largest common weighing 42.02. Arriving on Friday morning to find his preferred swim taken, he opted for a swim near the car park.
With only one night at his disposal, he targeted a set of snags next to a reed bed on the far bank. Presenting trusty size 4 ESP Trigs on a Ronnie to a Tungsten Loaded boom, over boilie crumb and Big Dog’s Choppers, the bite came the following morning. Initially Ross thought the staccato take was the result of a tench and initial head shaking and minimal resistance suggested likewise until whatever was on the end decided to wake up and quickly stripped 20 yards of line. A tug of war ensued until the big black common rolled into the net. It was Ross’s first carp on the new ESP Quickdraw 4K 3.25’s, not a bad way to christen them!
