Review: Ridgemonkey Aqua Shoes

Last year I picked up the Ridgemonkey Aqua Shoes, and after testing them out in various conditions, I can confidently say they’re a solid choice for anyone needing a reliable water-friendly shoe.

Comfort & Fit

Once they’re on, these shoes are extremely comfortable. The neoprene upper provides a snug yet flexible fit that molds well to the shape of my foot. They’re lightweight, making them easy to wear for extended periods without discomfort. However, getting them on can be a bit tricky. The elasticated ankle cuff, while great for keeping water and debris out, makes slipping your foot in a bit of a challenge, especially if you have a high instep.

Grip & Performance

One of the standout features is the textured rubber sole. The grip is fantastic on wet and uneven surfaces, whether I’m walking along slippery rocks, muddy banks, or even just around the bivvy. I felt secure and stable in all conditions, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Build Quality & Design

Ridgemonkey has designed these with durability in mind. The reinforced toe area adds extra protection, which is a great touch when navigating rocky terrain. The quick-drying material also means they don’t stay soaked for long after use, which is a huge plus for anyone using them regularly around water.

Final Verdict

Overall, the Ridgemonkey Aqua Shoes are an excellent choice if you need a durable, grippy, and comfortable water shoe. The only drawback is the tight fit when putting them on, but once they’re in place, they perform brilliantly. If you can deal with that small inconvenience, they’re definitely worth adding to your gear!
