Farewell to Creedence Fishery: A Sudden End to a Romford Gem
On September 5th, 2025, the angling community received heartbreaking news: Creedence Fishery has closed its gates for the foreseeable future.
The end of an era,I’m sorry it’s had to end this way but I promise Creedence Fishery will be back very soon, myself and the team have tried for the last 8 weeks to make it right and it’s not happening so it’s with a heavy heart that we have to close the doors to angling
it’s been a blast over the last 5/6 years I’ve made some good friends and loads of laughs with you all made plenty of memories with people catching there PBs it’s been a dream and i would do it in a heartbeat again! Unfortunately it’s now out of my hands and it’s not worth punishing my customers on the hope they maybe visiting here in the future. I will still be here daily so if anyone’s passing providing I’m not busy and I’m here you’re welcome to pop in for a tea or coffee, don’t forget any youngers out there or anyone who is genuinely struggling for matts, nets, slings get in touch I have a few bits here free of charge
What makes this closure especially tragic is that it wasn’t the result of financial hardship, poor management, or waning popularity. Instead, as owner Danny Jackson explained in a personal video message to supporters, the decision was forced upon him due to a chemical leak from a neighbouring property—an environmental disaster entirely beyond his control.
“I’m sorry it’s had to end this way…” Danny shared with visible emotion, acknowledging the abrupt and painful nature of the closure.
A Short but Impactful Legacy
Founded in 2020, Creedence Fishery quickly built a reputation as one of the most unique and well-run venues in the area. The carefully designed 2-acre carp lake was home to stunning fish, with specimens reaching up to 47 lb. More than just a place to catch big carp, it offered a sense of tranquillity and respect for nature rarely matched elsewhere.
Danny’s stewardship reflected his passion for conservation. In 2024, he made the bold move to ban casting entirely, instead providing anglers with bait boats. The goal was to protect the bankside vegetation and reduce stress on the fish stock, creating a more balanced and sustainable ecosystem. This controversial choice paid off—Creedence earned praise from many for its forward-thinking environmental approach.
A Closure Beyond Control
The chemical leak that ultimately sealed Creedence’s fate was devastating and sudden. Unlike many fisheries that close due to rising costs or dwindling interest, Creedence was still thriving. Swimbooker, a popular booking platform, posted a tribute noting that the closure came “through no fault of their own”, confirming that finances were not to blame.
For anglers, this abrupt ending feels especially cruel. Creedence had only just begun to cement its place as a beloved destination, and its closure leaves a void in Romford’s angling scene.
Community Reaction
The news has sparked an outpouring of support online. Loyal anglers have shared memories of their best catches, praising Danny not only for creating a special fishery but also for treating visitors with warmth and respect.
Many echoed the same sentiment: Creedence Fishery was more than just a lake—a place where friendships formed and nature was respected.
Looking Forward
Danny’s closing words carried a note of resilience. While Creedence Fishery as it stood may be gone, his commitment to the angling community and the values he built the venue on remain. In his own words:
“We will rise and overcome any obstacle in my way.”
For now, anglers must bid farewell to a truly remarkable venue. But the spirit of Creedence—environmentally conscious, community-focused, and passionately run—will no doubt inspire future fisheries.
